Job Description

This is a 10-month position, involving about 150 hours, with responsibilities and duties heaviest in the final weeks of July through the end of August. The Director will attend most of the Peace Camp Committee meetings between January and October in order to facilitate communication with the committee and give input to matters under consideration.

The Peace Camp Director is responsible for advertising, recruiting, interviewing and hiring all camp staff, including teachers, counselors, and counselors-in-training; working with the teachers to set the theme, curriculum and schedule for 2 weeks of camp; managing registration; family communication throughout the year and during camp; overseeing training and orientation of staff; and acting as a liaison between the Peace Camp Committee and the Peace Camp Staff with concerns, needs, or special requests. The Director will schedule guest speakers, determine and plan for service projects, and help coordinate volunteers, if necessary. After the conclusion of Peace Camp the Director will prepare a report on the Peace Camp, with attention to ideas that were particularly successful and areas needing improvement. The Director will work with the committee on a plan to address areas for improvement for the following year.

The Meetings of Abington Quarter

01 Monthly Mtgs in Oval - COPY

There are 9 Monthly Meetings in Abington Quarter. You are welcome to find one near you and visit.

All Monthly Meetings hold "unprogrammed" Meeting for Worship each "First Day" (Sunday), although times vary.  An unprogrammed Meeting for Worship begins in silence, attending to the "small, still voice within." Spoken ministry is offered as those gathered for worship feel so led.

Each Monthly Meeting has its own uniqueness. Worship times vary among Meetings. Some have singing before worship. Some are more Christo-centric than others. Many offer "blended" worship, with distant members and attenders joining via Zoom those who are gathered in the Meeting House . There are various additional gatherings for sharing, either after worship or at other times throughout the week. Several Meetings have schools under their care.

Check the links to the websites of the various Meetings for times, programs and other specifics, and to get a sense of which Meeting will best align with you.

Each of these Monthly Meetings has their own distinctive flavor: small or large membership, varying diversity of age groups and ethnic, social, economic backgrounds and theology. Monthly Meetings are the composite of all its members as they jointly express their faith.
