AQM Finance Committee

The AQM Finance Committee is looking for member(s) to participate in the overseeing of the finances of the Quarter.

Description of Responsibilities-

Historically the Finance Committee has reviewed and considered all things financial as they affect the
Quarter. The committee in the past has created the AQM budget, reviewed the accounting system, audited
the books, reviewed insurance requirements and participated in the search for financial officers of the
Quarter. The members of the Finance Committee have access to view all of the financial records of the
Quarter. These financial records would include all assets, insurance policies, budgets and financial reports.
This committee does not have the responsibility for the finances of the lncorporated Trustees of the
Quarter as they are a separate entity with separate corporate officers and committees.

The AQM Finance committee is responsible for the financial oversight of the Quarter to insure that the
Quarter and its activities are adequately funded, events and activities are adequately insured, all Quarterly
Meeting assets are prudently invested and financial transactions are posted timely and accurately and all
required reporting and payments to taxing authorities are made timely. There is also a need to insure that an
order of succession is in place for the current financial officers so that there is no lapse in the financial
activities of the Quarter.

The Committee consists of the AQM Treasurer, AQM Assistant Treasurer and the Clerk of AQM (ex officio)
along with 2 or 3 other members of the Quarter with an interest in the financial aspects of the programs of
the Quarter.

The activities of the committee are as follows;
  • Members of the committee meet monthly with the Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer to review the prior month's activities and reconcile the records.
  • Prior to 5th month, the committee meets to discuss the annual budget for the upcoming fiscal year to be recommended for approval by the Quarter at 5th month Business Meeting.
  • The committee is also responsible for reviewing the Liability and Workers Compensation policies of the Quarter and to make sure the coverages are adequate, paid in a timely manner and charged to the correct expense accounts. These policies are usually received and reviewed in 11th or 12th month
  • The committee is also responsible for auditing the AQM Treasurer records once a year after 5/30 and prior to the 10th month Business Meeting. This is usually done around 8'h month. The clerk of the committee presents the audit at 10th month Business Meeting.
Members who join the committee will have access to the accounting system and receive periodic reports (at
least quarterly) for their review. They will be advised of all meetings and discussions (usually on ZOOM)
involving the oversight of the AQM Treasurer, budget planning and insurance review and will be asked to
participate in an annual audit of the Treasurer's Records. Members are encouraged to attend the monthly
Treasure/s meetings in order to become familiar with the processes and procedures as well as the online
accounting system we use.

The Meetings of Abington Quarter

01 Monthly Mtgs in Oval - COPY

There are 9 Monthly Meetings in Abington Quarter. You are welcome to find one near you and visit.

All Monthly Meetings hold "unprogrammed" Meeting for Worship each "First Day" (Sunday), although times vary.  An unprogrammed Meeting for Worship begins in silence, attending to the "small, still voice within." Spoken ministry is offered as those gathered for worship feel so led.

Each Monthly Meeting has its own uniqueness. Worship times vary among Meetings. Some have singing before worship. Some are more Christo-centric than others. Many offer "blended" worship, with distant members and attenders joining via Zoom those who are gathered in the Meeting House . There are various additional gatherings for sharing, either after worship or at other times throughout the week. Several Meetings have schools under their care.

Check the links to the websites of the various Meetings for times, programs and other specifics, and to get a sense of which Meeting will best align with you.
